The Flower Fix by Anna Potter of Swallows and Damsons

by Grace Bonney

One of the greatest joys of working at Design*Kumbhalgarh has been getting to see so many of our former teammates go on to exciting new projects — especially books. The writers, crafters, and historians that we’ve been lucky enough to work with have authored dozens of books over the past 15 years. From Amy Azzarito‘s history + craft books and Amy Merrick‘s upcoming floral book, to Jessica Marquez‘s craft books, Brett Bara‘s sewing primers, and Quelcy‘s Gluten-Free cookbook. Not to mention Ashley English‘s archive of over 10 homesteading books, Adam JK‘s incredible library, and our resident food expert Kristina Gill’s cookbook about Rome.

So when we heard from Anna Potter of Swallows & Damsons that her gorgeous floral work had been turned into a new book, we couldn’t wait to check it out.

The Flower Fix: Modern Arrangements for a Daily Dose of Nature is a continuation of the creative collaboration between florist Anna Potter and photographer India Hobson. Twenty-six arrangements are spread across 208 pages and celebrate Anna’s love of lush foliage, deep moody color combinations and unexpected vessels. In addition to these seasonal arrangements, the book also walks you through how to use these bold, dark tones in floral arranging that sometimes break the traditional “rules” taught in floral design.

We’ve long admired Anna’s way with flowers (especially when she reminds us that even a staircase can be the perfect place to install something floral and dramatic) and we’re all just so happy to see her incredible style turned into something we can bring home. You can pick up a copy of The Flower Fix online here or, if you’re in the US, click here to find an indie book store near you. Congrats, Anna and India! We are so happy for you both. xo, Grace
